In order to help more people understand the complexities of casting and assembling large sculpture, we have included a series of photos of the assembly of " Eternal Hope" by sculptor Xu Long Hua. Five different artisans spent a total of six weeks, molding, preparing wax patterns, dipping the patterns in ceramic shell, casting, welding, grinding and finishing the sculpture.

.

Individual pieces of sculpture are test fitted, then clamped in place before welding. Assembly starts at the bottom and goes upward, adding more pieces of the bronze jigsaw puzzel.

With the majority of the sculpture welded together, the process of grinding down the welds and chasing the metal to insure that all the original detail is there, begins. Light bead blasting shows any areas that need to have more detailing.

With all the welding and chasing done, the sculpture receives a base coat of Liver of Sulfur, and the Patina process begins.
